Notes
As noted above, this order of battle is drawn from a morning state of the 1st October. In the intervening time, Ficatier's Brigade, three battalions of Palombini's division and two squadrons of hussars had been detached from the army and did not take part in the battle. These men - nearly 4500 of them - should be deducted from the above totals.
Furthermore, numbers would have fallen somewhat by the 25th as a result of straggling and casualties, notably the 300 men (mainly from Habert's division) who fell in an unsuccessful assualt on Saguntum on the 18th.
Thus, on the morning of the 25th October, Suchet had approximately 20,000 men on hand to maintain the siege and defeat Blake's relief force.
